Leflore County Court Judge James Littleton to take oath Dec. 29

An investiture ceremony for new Leflore County Court Judge James Littleton will be held Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Leflore County Courthouse in Greenwood.

Judge Deborah Gambrell Chambers receives Judicial Excellence Award

Chancellor Willie J. Perkins will administer the oath of office during the ceremony in the East Courtroom.

Judge-elect Littleton, 50, of Greenwood was elected Nov. 8. He will serve as County Court and Youth Court Judge for Leflore County.

Judge-elect Littleton previously served as Leflore County Justice Court Judge. He also previously served as Greenwood municipal judge and as city attorney for the towns of Greenwood, Arcola and Mound Bayou. He is a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University and William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn.

Across the state, 18 new trial judges will take their oaths of office in ceremonies scheduled during the next few days. New judges include eight new County Court judges, three new Chancery Court judges, and seven new Circuit Court judges. New judicial terms for County, Chancery and Circuit Court judges begin on Jan. 1, 2023.
